The Packers are close to making extensions with the two play makers: Clay Matthews and Aaron Rodgers. Clay Matthews is reportedly to make about $13 million per year and Aaron Rodgers somewhere in the $25 million range. For everyone complaining about Ted Thompson not spending in free agency: this is why.
Apparently the Packers are interested in Ahmad Bradshaw. Bradshaw, 27, suffered a foot injury last year and had surgery on the injury.
So would I. But the opinion that counts is Mike McCarthy and he wants Jackson, too. Jackson has been one of the best running backs in the league since he was drafted. No offense to the Rams but I feel bad for him being stuck there. I personally hate seeing great players walk out of the game without rings. He knows he doesn’t have very long left and it’s make or break. The Packers NEED a strong run game to make another Superbowl a reality. Jackson could provide the necessary support.
I read that it could be more of a chip to get Steven Jackson to sign, make it seem like there’s more, cheaper competition, he may bite for less. I think Jackson could make a significant difference on the offense. I LOVED what Cedric Benson was doing before he got injured. But Jackson has a pretty solid track record when it comes to injuries.
I would be a very happy man if Greg Jennings comes back (for the right price). It will definitely have an impact on a couple contracts elsewhere on the team. He’s a great target and he proved he’s still got what it takes when they played the Vikings. But only time will tell on that one. Reports are that the Vikings aren’t seeking him at this moment, but that can change quickly.
The Packers are actively seeking an agreement with Greg Jennings. Reportedly he “misjudged” free agency and is open to negotiations. The Vikings have also been reported to have interest in Jennings. There are a lot of things that go into this formula and this could have a huge impact on the outcome of next year.
p.s. this may be likely with the Dolphins (the team Greg Jennings openly stated he would like to go) signing Mike Wallace for a $65 million over a five year contract.
Steven Jackson still a possibility for the Packers. What do you guys think about him signing with Green Bay?
Erik Walden has tested the waters of free agency and has a contract with the Indianapolis Colts. He will be making $4 Million a year as the starter as outside linebacker. Walden played over 70% of the snaps and was second in quarterback pressure behind Clay Matthews III.
Richard Sherman on Bourbon Street in New Orleans asking people whether (he) Richard Sherman or Darrelle Revis is the better shut down corner. Pretty comical. As much drama as Sherman can be, I think he’s a badass.
